Dr. Kunal Sharma serves as Vice President & Head- Integrated Onco-pathology and Lead- Digital Pathology & Artificial Intelligence initiatives at Agilus Diagnostics- the largest diagnostic chain in India. He heads the prestigious Centre of Excellence for Histopathology and company’s oncology testing portfolio which includes Depts of Cytogenetics and Molecular Oncology.
He is trained in oncopathology from HCG Cancer Hospital, Bengaluru.

He also has numerous publications in journals of high repute like Archives of Pathology, IJSO, American Journal of Hematology, Springer Nature etc. His study on double & triple hit lymphomas, one of the largest from India, was presented at the International Leukemia, Lymphoma & Myeloma Congress, New York. He has authored landmark industry articles with leading media publication houses like The Times of India, ET HealthWorld, Firstpost etc. which have been hailed as some of the most shared and insightful opinion on various aspects of diagnostics. He has also been quoted regularly as a leading industry expert on various healthcare matters in the media with publishing platforms like Live Mint.
He sits on the editorial board of numerous journals. He is a member of Digital Pathology Association (USA), Asian Society of Digital Pathology, Indian Society of Oncology and numerous other prestigious associations and was the first from India to take the DAPA grand rounds of DPA- USA.
He is a national trainer for companion diagnostics like PDL1, HER2 and Claudin 18.2 and was instrumental in bringing Claudin 18.2 at a national level, with Agilus being the first lab chain to offer in India.
He has been pivotal in bringing advanced testing to other countries too like catalysing and supervising IHC adoption at IGMH Hospital, Maldives and has had the distinction of heading COVID testing policies for the state of Karnataka as a part of the advisory team to the government and member of COVID Raksha initiative of Sri Tejasvi Surya, Hon’ble Member of Parliament- South Bangalore and National President, BJYM.
He has also met heads of state and was an invited guest at the Parliament of Sri Lanka by the Hon’ble MP of Colombo. He has also held discussions around healthcare and cancer care with ministers from Govt of Maldives and Guatemala to name a few.
He has received the illustrious ‘COVID 19 State Welfare Icon of the year’ award in 2020, ‘The Most Dynamic Specialist Professional Pathologist of the year’ at Healthcare Summit & Awards 2022 and the prestigious BW Health 40 under 40 top healthcare leaders in India award at The Imperial in 2024. He was also felicitated with the ‘HDFC Neighbourhood Hero’ award for his work during COVID 19 and also conferred upon the Indian Achiever’s Forum award for Excellence in Healthcare in recognition of professional excellence and contribution towards nation building. He has also been featured in The Pathologist, one of the most prestigious international laboratory medicine publication, as an eminent international diagnostic leader, discussing India's evolving role in global diagnostic technology.
He stands out as an international leader in cancer diagnostics with expertise in diagnosing complex oncology cases, leading one of the largest and most prestigious departments of specialised histopathology and oncology diagnostics, along with leading adoption of advanced oncology testing and technology including molecular assays, biomarker testing, companion diagnostics and digital pathology in India and catalysing the same in other neighbouring countries too.

Dr. Kunal finished his graduation from Manipal and Post Graduation from HCG Cancer Hospital. He was awarded the Siddharth Bhandari scholarship and gold medal and the gold medal for the best all-rounder in the school passing-out ceremony. He got distinctions in 5 subjects in MBBS. He has had numerous high-end trainings and attended workshops in oncopathology, flowcytometry, MRD Assays, molecular diagnosis and precision medicine across the globe. He is one of the few certified trainers of PD-L1 in India and has conducted numerous workshops on IHC as faculty himself. He has also served as Block Chief Medical Officer in Govt of Rajasthan.
